
RAYNE - Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly advised his patrol and detectives division are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred on Friday evening.
Shortly after the Rayne High/ Eunice High football game ended at Rayne High School, shots were reported fired at 9:41 p.m. on Stadium Drive, away from the stadium and not on school property.
Officers working security at the game responded and discovered several vehicles parked along Stadium Drive were struck with bullets.
Officers then received a call that a gunshot victim was being treated at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley. Detectives responded to the hospital where it was learned that he was shot on the corner of Lyman Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive in Rayne.
Detectives believe the two incidents are connected and are continuing to interview witnesses and suspects.
The investigation is continuing at this time and anyone with information are asked to contact the Rayne Police Department.
