The No. 7-seeded Notre Dame Lady Pios rallied from a 13-12 deficit and scored the final three points in the tiebreaker to upend No. 2 Duhnam, 3-2, Thursday in a Division IV quarterfinal matchup in the LHSAA State Tournament at the Pontchartrain Center.
The Lady Pios, who ran their overall record to 28-18, will now take on No. 3 Pope John Paul II Friday at 11:50 a.m. on Court 1 in a semifinal contest.
Pope John Paul II, a semifinalist in 2018, was a 3-1 winner over No. 6 Ascension Episcopal in its quarterfinal contest Thursday morning.
In other Division IV action, No. 1 Lafayette Christian Academy survived a scare from No. 9 John Curtis and advanced to the semifinal round with a 3-2 victory.
No. 4 Parkview Baptist punched its ticket to the semifinal round with a 3-1 victory over district foe and No. 5 seed University Lab.
LCA and Parkview will square off at 11:50 a.m. Friday on Court 3 in their semifinal matchup.
The Division IV state championship game is slated for 11:30 a.m. on Center Court Saturday.
