Signs of life may soon be returning to downtown Crowley.
Mayor Tim Monceaux said Wednesday morning that he was allowing and encouraging all “gray area” businesses — those businesses which would fall under Section C of the Governor’s Stay at Home Order — to reopen.
“Those include the businesses not specifically named in the governor’s closure orders,” Monceaux explained as he went door to door along North Parkerson Avenue — “Main Street” — informing business owners of his declaration.
“I can’t do anything about the restaurants and the bars and the salons and such, because the governor has specifically ordered those businesses closed,” Monceaux said. “And, of course, the businesses that decide to reopen or continue operation will still have to follow the guidelines of only essential employees, no more than 10 people at a time including employees, and minimal contact with the public while maintaining social distancing.”
Monceaux also lifted his closure order on all city parks on Wednesday.
Those had been closed since April 8,
“Visitors to the park should remember to practice social distancing of 6 feet, do not gather in groups of 10 or more, and wear a mask when out in public,” he said.
“I want to thank everyone for their cooperation in joining with me as we take the necessary precautions to assure the safety and well-being of the community,” Monceaux concluded.
